HAKUNA MATATA

4 Bedrooms, 4 Bathrooms, Sleeps 11

Inspired by a Brazilian seaside villa, Hakuna Matata (meaning no worries) is a spacious luxury beach house beautifully positioned close to the shoreline of Paradise Cove.

Approach to the house is cleverly screened by the established tropical gardens and meandering driveway until the house is revealed through old wooden doors into a secluded courtyard.

Expansive glass sliding doors link the internal living area to the external verandah that runs the full length of the house. This functional tropical design optimises natural cooling with vaulted ceilings and highset louvres across the full length of the house.

The property has four king sized, air-conditioned bedrooms, each with their own ensuite. Three bedrooms situated in the main house all enjoy stunning sea views, with two of these bedrooms also offering access to open air showers. The fourth bedroom is positioned within a private landscaped courtyard and is ideal for children, with a mix of king, single and bunk beds.

All living and sleeping zones have ceiling fans and the bedrooms also have air conditioning.

The main house has a fully functional kitchen, butlers’ pantry, separate laundry, 10- seat dining table and comfortable lounges internally and externally.

The front seaside area includes a large traditional thatched entertaining area complete with a gas BBQ & pizza oven. The pool provides the ideal spot to sip a cocktail and watch a stunning tropical sunset.

There is a large sea pool in front of the property as well as spectacular coral gardens to explore. Paradise Cove enjoys excellent kayaking and snorkelling options with calm waters most of the year.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

We have made such great memories.  One night we purchased dough from the bakery at Au Bon Mache supermarket and made our own pizzas, and another night we had delicious sausages and kebabs on the BBQ.

Talita and her husband Rhione looked after us very well.  Such a lovely couple and they have the cutest baby.  We had a tremor one night and Rhione assured us this was quite common after such a warm day.  For the kids, it just added to the adventure.  My children have experienced this on a previous trip and a tropical cyclone on their first trip!!

Please send our regards to the owners, they have built a beautiful and wonderfully thought out home.  The outdoor showers and side access comes to mind, as well as the wonderful ventilation making use of the trade winds cooling the house down in the afternoons.  The sliding doors at the front of the house, all opening up bringing the outside inside feel, making it very easy to relax instantly!

Once again Vanuatu has given us a wonderful experience and there is no doubt we will be back again.  We are all talking about coming back again next July, I won’t leave booking it to the last minute next time though.

It is 9 degrees here and we are having a very cold and extremely wet winter, but at least  now I have the memories of Vanuatu to keep me warm.
